Abortion Industry Collapsing

Document Publication: Arlington Catholic Herald - Arlington, VA

Publication Date: March 04, 1999

Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, has been sharing his wit and wisdom with HERALD readers for more than a year. His recent column on pro-life messages for parish bulletins offered some simple, practical advice that could easily change someone's life.

Priests for Life recently announced that Father Pavone is participating in a new pro-life series on Mother Angelica's Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), the world's largest religious cable television network.

The 1999 edition of "Defending Life," which premiered March 1, will feature 13 new shows with 22 guests. It promises to cover the entire spectrum of the pro-life movement.

Father Pavone's optimistic message is simple and direct: after 25 years, the pro-choice movement is collapsing.

His guests will include Lorraine LaNeve, a woman who worked in the abortion industry for five years. She helped set up abortion facilities, lobbied on behalf of the abortion industry and assisted in the procedure herself. In this disturbing interview, LaNeve describes how she saw live children killed and hundreds of women shamelessly degraded. The abortion industry never told her about the years of grief and mental suffering she would endure as a result of the terrifying things she witnessed.

In another powerful interview, Father Pavone speaks with Deborah Cardamone, whose daughter was killed during a so-called "safe and legal" abortion procedure, and Kay Stile, whose daughter ended up in a persistent vegetative state when she underwent the "procedure."

As Father Pavone reveals, these cases are all too common in the abortion industry. They help to explain why former allies of the abortion camp are coming over to the pro-life side by the thousands.

Father Pavone does much more than simply explain why the tide is turning in the abortion battle. He gives practical steps we can all take to hasten abortion's final collapse. In a groundbreaking interview with Mark Crutcher, founder and president, of "Life Dynamics," Father Pavone discusses new tactics which can be used to legally shut down abortion mills and put abortionists behind bars.

Another program will reflect on what the young people who were born after the 1973 Roe vs. Wade court decision have to say about a society that did not consider them "persons" while they were growing in their mothers' wombs.

Kathy McConn, founder of the new pro-life effort "The Gabriel Project" tells Father Pavone how local parishes are responding "on the spot" to the concrete needs of women in the community who are pregnant and considering abortion.

The series premiered on March 1. It is scheduled to run every Monday at 4:30 a.m., Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and Saturday at 11 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time). For details about possible local changes in broadcast time, contact your local cable network. For additional information, contact EWTN on the internet at www.ewtn.com, or call 205-956-9537.
