Priests for Life director to speak in city


St. Patrick Pro-Life Committee of Cathedral Parish sponsors visit


The Rev. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life since 1993, will be in Central Pennsylvania for a three day speaking tour Friday through Sept. 8. The Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick Pro-Life Committee is sponsoring the visit.


Recognized as a leader in the anti-abortion movement, he travels throughout the country preaching and teaching against abortion and helping other priests to do the same. He has produced many television and radio programs on abortion, such as his series on the Eternal Word Television Network.


He spoke to the clergy of India at the invitation of Mother Teresa and to the anti-abortion caucus of the United States House of Representatives this year.


While in the area he will conduct prayer rallies, meet with parish anti-abortion committees, celebrate Mass, conduct seminars, give homilies and meet with clergy. His travels will take him to Bishop McDevitt and Trinity high schools in Steelton, York, Harrisburg and Hershey.


Starting at 8:20 a.m. Friday, he will visit Trinity High School, lead a prayer rally at10:15 a.m. at the Harrisburg Reproductive Health Services in Camp Hill, celebrate noon Mass in St. Patrick Cathedral, lead a 12:45 p.m. prayer rally on the front steps of the Capitol; visit Bishop McDevitt High School at 1:15 p.m.; meet with the cathedral's committee at 3:30 p.m. and lead Holy Hours/benediction in Prince of Peace Church, Steelton, at 7 p.m..


On Saturday beginning at 6:30 a.m., he will celebrate Mass in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 2121 N. Third St.; followed by a 7:30 a.m. prayer rally at the Hillcrest Women's Medical Center at 2709 N. Front St., and then one at 10 a.m. at the Planned Parenthood at 728 E. Beaver St., York; lunch at noon, followed by a seminar and Mass in St. Patrick Church, York, and conduct a clergy meeting at the cathedral at 8 p.m..


He will celebrate 7:30 and 12:15 and 5:30 p.m Sunday in the cathedral the homily at the 9 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church W. Areba Ave., Hershey and lead the rosary at the Memorial Tomb of the Unborn at 2 PM in Resurrection Cemetery , West Hanover Twp.


He is a graduate of St. Joseph's Seminary, Yonkers and was ordained in New York in 1988. He has taught Scripture and dogma in the Permanent Diaconate Formation program and the Institute of Religious Studies in New York.
