This is in response to Mercedes Croughwell's letter Nov. 9 in which she criticized the American Catholic bishops who spoke the truth about the overriding evil of legalized abortion in the context of the presidential election.
It would have been more appropriate if she had instead turned her criticism to the radical leadership of her Democratic Party to persuade them to drop their pro-abortion platform and replace it with a plank to restore protection to the unborn that this country gave before the disastrous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973.
We are reminded by the Rev. Frank Pavone, head of Priests for Life, that "too many of our fellow citizens fail to cast their vote with this overriding concern: that public servants need to be able to tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public."
Clearly, the roughly 50 million innocent American children who have been aborted since 1973 trumps all the issues that we face as a nation.
The American bishops, who did their job by speaking the truth clearly, deserve our praise and thanks.
