The Pro-Life Freedom Ride for the Unborn, a project of Priests for Life will visit Knoxville on Friday and Chattanooga on Saturday.
Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, and Dr. Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr. and director of African-American outreach for Priests for Life, will lead a kickoff rally at 7 p.m., Friday, at Knoxville’s Tennessee Theater, 604 S. Gay St. A choir of local voices will perform "Least of These," an anthem for the Freedom Rides composed by Christian recording artist Jamie Owens Collins. Preaching, music and fellowship will be part of the evening. All ages are welcome and there is no admission fee.
The Priests for Life Pastoral Team, members of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign and national and Knoxville pro-life leaders will lead a prayer vigil outside Planned Parenthood, 710 N. Cherry St. in Knoxville at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
At 11 a.m., the Freedom Bus will leave for Chattanooga, where the ride will conclude at 1:30 p.m. with a memorial service at the National Memorial for the Unborn, 6232 Vance Road. All pro-life and civil rights activists are urged to join the Freedom Rides by following the bus in a convoy of compassion for the unborn.
