In response to the president's national health care plan, widely known as ObamaCare, six pro-life marchers were arrested today in front of the White House.
Among those arrested were a Catholic priest, Father Denis Wilde, the Associate Director of Priests for Life; and Presbyterian minister, the Reverend Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition.
LifeSiteNews.com is reporting that a total of six pro-life protestors were charged and arrested for "disobeying a lawful order," and eventually released after paying a $100 fine apiece.
Fr. Wilde stated that it is legal to protest in front of the Executive Mansion, but only if the protestors are physically in motion.
As the Catholic cleric explained, it's legal to walk, but illegal to kneel and pray.
“Occupy Wall Street protesters have been occupying federal property for months, but when we kneel in prayer, the police are called in and we are arrested.
We knew that was the risk when we gathered today, and we will do it again regardless of the risk.
What people of faith – of every faith – need to do now is stand with us.”
Taking It To The Streets...
Fr. Frank Pavone, the head of Priests for Life, defended the protestors and encouraged all Americans to follow suite.
In an interview with LifeSiteNews.com, Fr. Pavone stated:
"The men arrested today, including our Associate Director, reveal the fact that the response to the unjust Obama mandate cannot be limited to the Courts, the Congress, and the press.
It must bring us to the streets of America."
On Fr. Pavone's Facebook account, today he posted defiance in the face of what he looks upon as government bullying of the pro-life side of the abortion issue:
"This morning some of our priests are at White House for a rally and prayer vigil.
Some will be arrested.
Civil disobedience is called for."
