SHREVEPORT, La. (KTBS) -
Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., made a stop at the historic Galilee Baptist Church in Shreveport.
That's the church where MLK, Jr. spoke back in August 1958 during a voter registration event, and was perhaps first recorded saying "I have a dream."
Alveda King was in town for an Ark-La-Tex Crisis Pregnancy Center fundraiser, and to speak at a seminar for Black Americans for Life, a pro-life organization.
She also took time to visit with several church members, including long-time pastor Dr. E. Edward Jones and Rev. C.L. Bryant.
"Today was more emotional than I thought it might be but in a very good way and a very encouraging way, even down to the beautiful southern accents and the love and the strength that I'm feeling and perceiving."
Alveda King is an NAACP member, works as a pro-life and civil rights activist, as well as a Christian minister.
