A shocking video released Tuesday shows Dr. Deborah Nucatola, the senior director of medical services for Planned Parenthood, describing how her organization sells the parts of babies obtained through partial birth abortions. The video was captured by a citizen journalist group known as the Center for Medical Progress.
Nucatola is seen at a business lunch with actors posing as buyers from a human biologics company, Life News said. She admits that PPFA charges per-specimen for the body parts and uses illegal partial-birth abortion procedures in order to get them. Worse yet, Steven Ertelt said, she "is aware of their own liability for doing so and takes steps to cover it up."
“How much of a difference can that actually make, if you know kind of what’s expected, or what we need?” the "buyers" asked Nucatola. She proceeded to give a full explanation.
“It makes a huge difference,” Nucatola said. “I’d say a lot of people want liver. And for that reason, most providers will do this case under ultrasound guidance, so they’ll know where they’re putting their forceps. The kind of rate-limiting step of the procedure is calvarium. Calvarium—the head—is basically the biggest part.”
“We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact," she bragged. “And with the calvarium, in general, some people will actually try to change the presentation so that it’s not vertex,” she added. “So if you do it starting from the breech presentation, there’s dilation that happens as the case goes on, and often, the last step, you can evacuate an intact calvarium at the end.”
Ertelt cited federal law prohibiting the sale of body parts from aborted babies. Federal code, he added, makes the sale or purchase of human fetal tissue a federal felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison with a fine of up to $500,000. Nucatola also expressed the abortion giant's concern of liability.
“At the national office, we have a Litigation and Law Department which just really doesn’t want us to be the middle people for this issue right now,” she said. “But I will tell you that behind closed doors these conversations are happening with the affiliates.”
During fiscal year 2014-2014, Planned Parenthood received over $528 million in taxpayer funds. Newsbusters' Katie Yoder put it in perspective: "That amounted to more than $1.4 million per day, through government grants, contracts and Medicaid reimbursements."
Pro-life advocates were shocked at the "truly horrific" video, Yoder added. Fr. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, said Planned Parenthood's actions "violates both the law and the most basic sense of human decency."
