NEW YORK – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement after the House voted for a moratorium on federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

“Priests for Life congratulates the U.S. House of Representatives for voting for a moratorium on Planned Parenthood funding for one year, pending investigations into the immoral and illegal activities of the mega-abortion business. The efforts to stop the flow of hundreds of millions of government dollars into the business that performs some 327,000 abortions a year will require persistence and patience. But we are on the right road.

“One way to understand why, with only three exceptions, all the House Democrats voted to keep funding Planned Parenthood is that in so doing, many of them voted to keep funding themselves. When we examine the issue of  government funding of Planned Parenthood, we should also examine how Planned Parenthood funds the government through its contributions to politicians. The abortion industry is committed to propping up the campaigns of those who want to keep abortion legal.”
