Washington, DC -- Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today:
"Priests for Life applauds the creation of the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, formed recently in the US House of Representatives. We will offer our assistance to this panel and its members as their work commences. We thank the Republican members of the panel, all of whom have shown themselves to be sensitive to the lives of infants, both in and outside of the womb.
"Priests for Life has noted that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has named the six Democrats who will sit on the panel. We want to put the Minority Leader, and the Democratic members, on notice from now that that we are troubled by the way that they dismiss the right to life that the youngest infants have. They will not protect infant lives; instead they will protect the abortion industry. This is evidenced by their voting records, public comments, and behavior on other committees that have already held hearings on late term abortion. We will be in their face, both individually and collectively, to call them out on this and to expose their extremism to the people they represent."
