NEW YORK - Priests for Life will kick off the New Year with a dual prayer campaign focused on its Supreme Court case against the Obama administration’s unjust HHS mandate, and on the elections of 2016.

At www.PrayerCampaign.org those who would like to join the prayer effort will find “A Prayer for our Nation as we Prepare to Elect our Leaders,” and “Prayer for the Victory of Life and Freedom in Supreme Court Cases.” Priests for Life has gathered together a coalition of other national groups also supporting these prayer campaigns.

“Two of the major events in 2016 that will impact the pro-life movement are the elections and the Supreme Court case,” said Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life and President of the National Pro-Life Religious Council. “We need to have nationwide prayer for both of these causes. Religious freedom is at stake in the HHS challenge, and the very soul of our nation is at stake in the elections.”

“Over the next several months the Supreme Court will be reviewing our Priests for Life case against the HHS mandate. Six other cases (including two dioceses and the Little Sisters of the Poor) have been consolidated with ours by the Court, and a decision is expected by the end of June,” Father  Pavone said. “We are urging all believers to pray for victory, and a reversal of the mandate.”

“Regarding the elections, we have to pray that voters will rise up to their responsibility to be active, informed, citizens, whose choices are shaped by the principles in the Word of God, and not merely by self-interest or partisan loyalty,” Fr. Pavone explained.

The primary sponsors of this prayer campaign are Priests for Life and the National Pro-life Religious Council, and they are joined by a coalition of 43 national and pro-life groups, including: American Life League,  American Values, Americans United for Life, Americans United for Life Action, Anglicans For Life, California Civil Rights Foundation, Catholics Called To Witness, CEC For Life, Citizens for a Pro-life Society, Conservative Congregational Christian Conference, Couples for Christ Foundation for Family and Life, Evangelical Church Alliance, Expectant Mother Care, Faith and Action, Faithful Catholic Citizen, Gospel of Life Ministries, Heartbeat international, Hispanics for Life, Human Life Alliance, JillStanek.com, Life Coalition International, Life Issues Institute, LifeNews, LifeSiteNews.com, Lutherans for Life, MO Blacks for Life, National Black Pro-Life Union, National Clergy Council, National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, National Life Center, National Pro-life Center, Operation Rescue, Presbyterians Pro-Life, Pro-Life Action League, Pro-Life Action Ministries, Rachel’s Vineyard, Sidewalk Advocates for Life, Susan B.
