Priests for Life will kick off its 25th anniversary year with a press conference Wednesday focused on the 2016 elections. The press conference will take place at 10 a.m. in the Bloomberg Room of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
"In its 25 years of ministry, Priests for Life has always been vocal and active in our nation's elections, urging voters to elect men and women committed to fulfilling the first purpose of government: the protection of the lives of the people," explained National Director Father Frank Pavone. "This year that role will surpass anything we have seen in the past. We will educate and mobilize voters, and we will urge churches to rise above the self-censorship that comes from the baseless fear of losing our tax-exempt status."
Father Pavone's new book, Abolishing Abortion, takes aims at the myths behind that fear, and will be a key educational tool in this election cycle. Complimentary copies will be available at the press conference.
Joining Father Pavone at the press conference will be Janet Morana, executive director of Priests for Life; attorney James Bopp, a top expert on what the law permits churches to do regarding elections, and Christiana Holcomb, Legal Counsel with the Alliance Defending Freedom, which has likewise provided tremendous help to Priests for Life and to churches and other organizations nationwide.
The National Press Club is at 529 14th Street NW. For information on the press conference or to set up an interview with Father Pavone, call Leslie Palma, communications director for Priests for Life, at 347-286-7277, or email her at media@priestsforlife.org.
