PS 119: 103 IS 6: 6-7 JER 15: 15-16 EZ 3:3 St Jerome Feast Day, Sept 30th
TODAY’S TOPIC may sound strange at first. We are to...”EAT GOD’S WORD”!
Along with this thought the Scriptures, both Old & New Testaments, describe
how an Angel touched ISAIAS’ lips .
ISAIAS 6: 6-7. “One of the SERAPHIM flew to me....and in his hand was a LIVE
COAL which he had taken off the Altar. He touched my mouth & said...“this has
touched your Lips....& your Iniquities ( sins) are cleansed.”
WE TAKE SPECIAL NOTE: that God’s Word is Sweet or Sour. It tastes like Honey.
Then the Angel said to me in EZECHIEL: “Son of Man EAT THIS, so I ate it....& it was
SWEET as honey in my mouth. Eat this scroll I am giving you....& fill your stomach.”
WE ALSO SHOULD NOTE....that three Old Testament Prophets...Isaiah, Jeremiah &
Ezechiel were told to EAT God’s Word...& they did so at once. They OBEYED! They
REJOINED TO God’s Word...whereas many people in the world do not obey God’s
Commands.
JEREMIAH: JER 15: 15-16: “O Lord ”You Know, Remember me...Defend me, & Visit
me. Your Words were found & I did EAT THEM. GOD’S WORD is Sweet or Sour.
It tastes like Honey. EZECHIEL 3:3...”Then he said to me..Son of Man...Eat this so..
....I ate it...& it was sweet as honey in my mouth...Eat this Scroll I’m giving you,
.....& fill your stomach.”
NOTE THAT...ISAIAH, JEREMIAH...& EZECHIEL are joined to God’s Will, whereas
there are many others in the World who do NOT obey God’s Commands....NOR
do they have the Spirit of Obedience...& DISRESPECTING both Moral and Civil Law
...even LIFE itself! Remember: OBEDIENCE is a Virtue...something to be desired &
practiced in Life.
WHAT WE NEED here are the Qualities of Children, Docility, Simplicity, a Trusting
Nature...a kind of “built-In” Obedience & Humility. When the Apostles asked
Our Lord said in LK 9: 46...”Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of God....Christ
turned their thoughts from MAJESTY & GLORY.. by pointing to a child and placing
him in their midst.
AS WE GROW OLDER...& WISER in Life...this task is NOT an easy one! Many things
....& Events DO NOT satisfy the Human Soul...but a Good Conscience gives Ease of
Mind...& Peace to the Soul. CHILD-LIKE TRAITS can be summed up in one word:
SIMPLICITY. GOD HIMSELF is SIMPLE...that is to say God has no PARTS. He is NOT
COMPLEX.
HENCE GOD is far different from Adam & Eve...whom He created FROM DUST in
the Garden of Eden. This is WHY we say God is INFINITE...that is without any kind
of Limits...while MAN is FINITE. SO THE CLOSER we come to....Union with GOD in
Truth & Goodness...which is the practice of Virtue...the more SIMPLICITY we have
...& the Happier we become!
IN REALITY THIS IS A SHARE & A FORETASTE...IN THE DIVINE LIFE OF HEAVEN!
