NEW YORK – Priests for Life and Abortion Free New Mexico have released a new undercover phone call as part of an effort to educate Americans about the reality of third-trimester abortion.
In a call to Southwestern Women’s Options in Albuquerque, commissioned by Priests for Life, New Mexico pro-life activist Tara Shaver said she was a healthy mother carrying a healthy baby at 30 weeks into her pregnancy. She explained that this was originally a wanted child, but that once her husband lost his job, they felt they could no longer take care of the new baby and the two other children they have.
The clinic scheduled the abortion -- a procedure of several days -- to begin on Tuesday, May 9th. The abortion seller said Medicaid would cover the abortion.
“Even people who call themselves 'pro-choice' are outraged that children can be aborted this late – and even later – in a pregnancy,” said Father Frank Pavone. “It is time for us to make sure that there isn't a citizen in America who is unaware of this child-killing that is taking place throughout pregnancy.”
Tara and Bud Shaver, the founders of Abortion Free New Mexico, point out that New Mexico is one of the poorest states in the country and is consistently ranked lowest in education and child well being while also having one of the highest crime rates in the nation. The state is currently facing a budget crisis and is struggling to keep the government running.
According to a recent article by the Associated Press: "Cash reserves are dwindling, which will soon leave state finance officials unable to cut checks. The governor warned that will affect the state's ability to make payroll and pay contracts."
“However, if you need a late-term abortion, New Mexico is the go-to place,” Bud Shaver said. “New Mexico may not be able to pay its state workers, but New Mexico Medicaid will pay over $15,000 to local abortionists to kill a child in the womb.”
Tara Shaver said: "The myth that late-term abortions only occur when a woman's life is at risk or when the baby has been diagnosed with an anomaly could not be farther from the truth. Our latest call dispels this myth with proof that in New Mexico late-term abortions are easy to come by.
“New Mexicans deserve to hear the truth about the evil that is occurring in our state and our leaders must work to change the fact that New Mexico is the late-term abortion capital of the country."
In a previous undercover call, Ms. Shaver told Southwestern Women’s Options that she was 33 weeks pregnant with a Down syndrome baby. The woman who answered the phone assured her that she would be able to abort her child and have Medicaid pick up the tab.
Father Pavone noted that the majority of Americans do not support late-term abortion and do not want taxpayer money funding used to kill fully developed, well past viability children.
“Every abortion is an outrage, and we need to protect every baby. To educate our fellow citizens, let's start with the most obvious and outrageous part of the story: Taxpayer-funded third-trimester abortions of healthy babies carried by healthy mothers.”
