Fr. Frank Pavone: The House’s passage of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act tells us who is worthy of office

Priests for Life

October 03, 2017
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, has released the following statement on today’s passage by the House of Representatives of H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act:
“The House’s approval of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is a turning point.  It clarifies which of our federal representatives are or are not willing to allow the infliction of excruciating pain on little children.
“The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act declares that children in the womb who are at least 20 weeks old – and who, therefore, can feel pain – should not be dismembered, decapitated, or otherwise brutally killed.  It’s that simple.  Frankly, if a Member of Congress cannot support such a measure, he or she is unworthy of anyone’s trust or vote.
“Those Congressmen, however, who continue to fight valiantly for the weakest among us – those who cannot speak for themselves, vote or donate money to political campaigns – are worthy of the highest praise.  Speaker Paul Ryan, Congressman Trent Franks, and all those who co-sponsored or voted for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act take the slings and arrows of Planned Parenthood and others in the death industry.  We thank them for their courage and perseverance. And we thank President Donald Trump who has already expressed his willingness to sign this legislation when it reaches his desk.
“The next step, therefore, is to challenge the Democratic Senators to stand up and protect these children from the painful violence of abortion. Anyone who cannot vote for this bill has some explaining to do to the rest of us, to whom it is self-evident that tearing children apart is wrong.”
