THE MESSAGE OF THE HOLY FATHER POPE FRANCIS

ON THE OCCASION OF THE PORTUGUESE MARCH FOR LIFE

OCCURING NOVEMBER 4, 2017

TRANSMITTED THROUGH THE CARDINAL SECRETARY OF STATE

HIS EMINENCE PIETRO CARDINAL PAROLIN

TO THE APOSTOLIC NUNCIO OF PORTUGAL

October 26, 2017

“Informed of the ‘March for Life’ in the cities of Aveiro, Lisbon and Porto, Pope Francis sends his greeting to the participants of this initiative to promote and defend life, born from a morally sensitive national Christian conscience, against a throwaway culture guided by a logic of economics that excludes and at times kills. May there be always more men and women of good will who courageously embrace the truth of the dignity and value that each human being has for God, sustaining that truth with facts and scientific and moral reasoning, in a dramatic appeal to reason so as to return to the respect for each human life from its conception to its last breath. Upon those allies of God in the battle against abortion, euthanasia and other attempts against human life, the Holy Father invokes the wisdom and strength of the Holy Spirit, ‘The Lord Giver of Life,’ to concede his Apostolic Blessing.”

His Eminence Pietro Cardinal Parolin, Secretary of State of His Holiness
