We continue here our series highlighting the members of the Priests for Life Family who serve or have served on our staff and pastoral team.
It’s often said that the Lord works in mysterious ways and Evelyn Cruz is proof of that.
Evelyn, a Brooklyn native, lives on Staten Island but was visiting family in Orlando when she attended Mass with her mother and heard a guest speaker from an organization called Priests for Life.
“I thought to myself, ‘what a great organization.’ That same week I flew home and I had a job interview for a position that my husband’s friend had recommended me for. It so happened that the interview was at Priests for Life!”
Since 2011, Evelyn has worked in the Finance Department, assisting Chief Financial Officer Danielle Malina-Jones and Anthony DeStefano, vice chairman of the board. Her husband’s job made it impossible for her to make the move to Priests for Life’s new Florida headquarters immediately but Evelyn is looking forward to getting out of the New York winters as soon as possible. Currently she works from home but spends as much time in the Florida office as possible.
“We fight for a good cause, not only to save babies from being aborted but to respect human life,” she says of Priests for Life’s mission. “I work with dedicated staff members who make a great team. Father Frank Pavone and Janet Morana have a mission and they won’t stop until that mission is completed.”
Evelyn is a parishioner of St. Ann’s Church on Staten Island and is very thankful to have a loving and supportive family.
“I am truly blessed to have been raised by my devoted Catholic parents, Susana and Eddie. I also have been extremely blessed to have my husband Carl in my life. No one could be a more supportive husband, father and grandfather. I am very proud of my daughters Susanna Marie and Kimberly Ann and my one-year-old granddaughter Isabel Rae is my love and my joy.
