WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The best way to begin the March for Life is with prayer, and for more than 25 years, the best place to pray has been at the National Memorial for the Preborn and Their Mothers and Fathers (www.NationalPrayerService.com), an interdenominational Christian service of worship, preaching and song sponsored by the National Pro-Life Religious Council (NPRC), Faith & Liberty in the Nation’s Capital, Priests for Life, and other religious groups.

The 26th annual 2020 National Memorial will take place from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 24 – the morning of the March for Life – at DAR Constitution Hall, 1776 D Street NW, at 18th Street. A Mass will precede the service, at 7:30am.

NPRC President Father Frank Pavone will deliver the keynote address. Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, also will speak and will receive the 2020 Pro-Life Award.

Musical guest Joyce Im Bartholomew will return after bringing the crowd to its feet during services in 2019 and 2018.

“The National Memorial is the nation’s premiere pro-life prayer event, bringing clergy and laity together from dozens of denominations to pray for an end to abortion,” said Frank Pavone. “Few things bring the followers of Christ together more effectively across denominational lines than the pro-life effort. This event gives collective witness to the world that we stand together on the historic biblical teaching on the sanctity of life and seek to put it into practice.”

The prayer service is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required and because of the size of the historic and beautiful Constitution Hall, the event is perfect for large groups.

Serving on the Host Committee for this year’s service, in addition to Father Pavone, are Ernie Ohloff, director of outreach, National Right to Life Committee; Evangelist Alveda King, director of the Priests for Life outreach “Civil Rights for the Unborn;” Bradley Mattes, president and CEO Life Issues Institute; Dick Bott, founder of Bott Radio Network, and Sherley Bott; Rich Bott, CEO, Bott Radio Network, and Faye Bott.

Co-sponsoring organizations include Life Issues Institute and the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates.

“Prayer is our best tool in the arsenal to end the scourge of abortion,” said Bradley Mattes, President of Life Issues Institute. “And what better way to begin a full day of pro-life activities in Washington. Join us as we seek God’s favor and grace to end the killing of unborn babies.”
