Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today recorded what is believed to be the first pro-life seminar to take place in the Metaverse.
Priests for Life has a track record of embracing new technology since, under Father Pavone’s direction, it became one of the first pro-life organizations to establish an internet presence in the 1990s. With our combined social media, video sharing platforms and daily broadcasting, we have one of the largest online and social media audiences of any pro-life ministry.
And now, intrigued by the new opportunities possible in the Metaverse - the newest iteration of the internet - the ministry is boldly going where few, if any, pro-life ministries have gone before.
In November 2021, Father Pavone bestowed the first priestly blessing in the new realm, offering prayers for everyone who will enter the Metaverse. Millions of people will get a first look at the Metaverse during the Super Bowl on Sunday, when Meta Platforms airs a commercial showing the newest iteration of the internet.
Today’s seminar was the first of what Father Pavone envisions as regular events that will include question-and-answer sessions, pro-life talks, blessings and election seminars.
Recordings of the Metaverse presentations will be available for viewing on all of Priests for Life’s social media platforms. “But,” Fr. Pavone explains, “joining us in the Metaverse is a completely different experience – you’re not just watching a scene. You’re jumping into it.
“I’m excited to think of all the possibilities the Metaverse will open up for our ministry and for the whole pro-life movement,” Father Pavone continued. “I’m looking forward to reaching new audiences with our message about the need to protect the unborn.”
A recording of the first pro-life presentation, and additional information in the future, will be on www.ProLifeMetaverse.com.
