But rather came from the Father who sent you.
You appoint for your Church a pope
To proclaim that same teaching
And to unite your people in believing and professing it.
Bless our new Pope, Leo XIV.
Give him strength and grace,
Make him wise and holy.
Enable him to bring your healing to your people,
And your challenge of repentance to sinners.
Grant us all to understand
The proper role of the Pope,
Which is always to point to you and your teaching,
Not to his own ideas and preferences.
Give to the new Pope
The joy of proclaiming the Gospel of Life,
And of reflecting your truth and love.
We ask this of you, Lord Jesus,
The Eternal Shepherd and Head of the Church,
Who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
