Father,
You told your people of old,
When you granted their desire to have a king,
That both they and their king had a King in heaven.
Your Son Jesus Christ taught
That we are to render to Caesar what is Caesar’s
But to God what is God’s.
And your Word commands us to be good citizens,
Obey just laws,
And give respect to public authorities
As ministers of God.
We ask for your grace, Lord,
To carry out our duties as citizens
As an act of love for You.
You have given us the privilege to choose our leaders.
May we show gratitude for this gift
By fulfilling our duty to vote,
And to vote wisely.
Through our faithful citizenship,
May your Kingdom of truth and life grow ever stronger
Across our nation.
We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
