Lord, your Word warns against corruption
On the part of those who wield power,
And condemns those who plot evil
Under cover of lies and darkness.
Lord, we pray today
That our nation will be governed
By those whom we elect
Rather than by bureaucrats
Whose names we do not know,
Whose faces we have not seen,
And who have never appeared on a ballot or in a debate.
We pray, furthermore,
That those whom we elect
Will have the full support and collaboration
Of those who are responsible
For implementing the agenda on which they ran,
And which we approved when we voted.
We know, Lord God, that there are many in government offices
Who are not interested in carrying out
The agenda on which our leaders are elected,
But pursue their own interests, election after election.
We pray today that we may elect those
Who are not afraid to clean house,
To expose the “deep state,”
And to fire those government employees
Who do not respect the will of the voters.
Lord, may our politics be marked
By honesty, courage and integrity,
And may our citizens have the wisdom
To vote accordingly.
We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
