Father, we thank you
For the system of government
We have inherited from our Founders,
A system designed to be
Accountable to the people.
We know that every two years,
Every seat in the US House of Representatives
Is up for election.
We pray today for victory
In the races for US House.
We pray that your people
Will have the wisdom to elect representatives
Who love America,
Who understand the Constitution,
And who follow your divine law.
Help voters understand what is at stake,
And to realize the kind of power
Exercised in the House of Representatives,
From funding decisions,
To investigations, which can be good or bad,
To impeachment proceedings,
And, of course, to the drafting, debating,
And voting on countless bills that may become law.
In choosing their Representatives,
May voters not only consider
What is good for their district,
But what is good for the whole nation,
As the balance of power in Congress is decided
Between one party and the other.
Give us wisdom, Lord,
And give us Your Victory.
We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
