Lord, we thank you
For the United States of America --
Fifty states, united
Under one federal Constitution,
With one set of Founding principles Rooted in Your Holy Word.
We pray for the individual states today,
Each with its own Constitution, Court system,
And lawmaking body.
We pray for the men and women
Who are elected to draft, debate and vote
On those laws.
Lord, we pray today
For the thousands of elections taking place right now
For state legislators.
These races will determine
The direction America takes
On so many issues that are decided by the states:
Issues of crime and safety,
Of healthcare and education,
Of abortion policy and funding,
Of the conduct of businesses and ministries,
And of family life and freedom.
Give us legislators who will be faithful
Both the US Constitution
And to their state constitution.
Give us godly men and women,
Who know the people they represent,
Who respect their views,
Understand their beliefs,
And defend their rights.
Bless every race that is taking place.
May these state legislative elections
Result in countless policies
That defend life and freedom
And grow the greatness of America.
We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
