“God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them” (Gn. 1:27).
Lord, we praise You for creating us.
Only You can create things out of nothing.
Only You can speak a word
That brings life where there was none,
And an entire universe
Where there was only emptiness.
Lord, we could neither ask for nor earn
The gift of creation.
Nor did anything inside or outside of You
Compel You to create us.
Our life is purely the result of Your love
That You freely bestow upon us and all Your people.
Lord, we rejoice,
Not only that we are Your creation,
But that we are Your image,
A manifestation of Your being,
A trace of Your glory.
At each moment You breathe life into us,
And if You stopped thinking about us for one instant,
We would cease to exist.
Lord, accept our humble praise,
And may our gratitude
Inspire us to defend each life You have created.
