Joseph Cardinal Bernardin's "A Consistent Ethic of Life: Continuing the Dialog" (The William Wade Lecture Series, St. Louis University, March 11, 1984) is a masterful and inspired teaching for our time. Thankfully, it pulls together the various components that comprise the Ethic 0f Life in the Cardinal's well-known metaphor, presenting it as a "Seamless Garment, wherein all elements relating to the sanctity of human life are interconnected in an interwoven and singular fashion, recognizing their individual differences and challenges, but collecting them and presenting them rightfully as interrelated. Bravo, Cardinal Bernardin! May we, these many decades after your inspired and articulate presentation, take it to heart and live by its conclusions!
