Steven Tyler’s ex-fiancée will be Silent No More about her abortion

Silent No More Awareness Campaign

October 03, 2011

For 36 years she has kept quiet about her relationship with the rock star Steven Tyler and the abortion he talked her into in 1975. But Julia Holcomb will be Silent No More.

Janet Morana and Georgette Forney, co-founders of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, have announced that Ms. Holcomb has joined the Campaign that gives women and men a platform to speak about the way abortion has harmed them and millions of others just like them, and to let those who are still suffering in silence know that healing and redemption is possible.

Ms. Holcomb’s incredible story is proof of that.

Now a married mother of six sons, Ms. Holcomb is setting the record straight about her relationship with the Aerosmith frontman. “I had decided I would never talk about Steven, but he continues to talk about me, including in his two books,” Ms. Holcomb said. “I decided it was time for me to tell the truth about our relationship.”

An interview with Ms. Holcomb, taped last month during her visit to Priests for Life headquarters in New York, can be seen at http://www.silentnomoreawareness.org/ and http://www.priestsforlife.org/.

LifeSite News has its own video interview with Ms. Holcomb, which can be seen at http://www.lifesitenews.com/

Ms. Holcomb and her husband contacted Kevin Burke, co-founder of Rachel’s Vineyard, after she read an article Burke wrote for National Review about the regret Tyler has expressed about the abortion.(www.priestsforlife.org/articles/3633-post-abortion-trauma ). She then wrote her own story, which was published in May by LifeSite News. (www.priestsforlife.org/testimonies/2155-The-Light-of-the-World---the-Steven-Tyler-and-Julia-Holcomb-story )

“Julia’s story is an incredibly powerful witness to the healing available to everyone who has been wounded by abortion,” Burke said. “She escaped from a place of darkness and emerged whole, strong and ready to fight for women and men who are still struggling to find the light.”

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life and Pastoral Director of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, said he hopes Ms. Holcomb’s courage and commitment to life will urge other women and men hurting in the aftermath of abortion to seek healing.

“So many are suffering in the very same way that Julia Holcomb suffered,” he said. “Our task is to let them know that the healing can begin now.”

Since the launch  of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign in 2003, 4,845 women and men have shared their testimonies publicly at over 865 gatherings in 48 states and 10  countries where more than 110,830 attendees have heard the truth about abortion’s negative aftereffects.  More than 10,100 people representing 57 countries are registered to be Silent No More.  Raising awareness about the hurtful aftermath of abortion and the help that is available to cope with the pain are two of the Campaign’s goals.  The Campaign has over 1,300 testimonies posted here, with over 120 that are shared via video!  The Silent No More Awareness Campaign is a joint project of Anglicans for Life and Priests for Life.  For more information, please visit our website:
