St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel (see Rev. 12) led those angels faithful to God when the devil and his angels rebelled. His name is a battle cry, “Who is like God?”, a phrase that also is the challenge we give to the culture of death, which tries to play God with human life. St. Michael’s Feast Day is September 29.

St. Michael,
You proclaim that only God can rule the universe
And be the Lord of our choices.

You defend us in the battle
Against the temptation to exalt ourselves above God
And to choose our own will instead of His.

Be with the People of God
As we defend the lives of the unborn.

Pray for us, that we may always know
That true freedom is found in obedience to God’s law:
The law that protects the unborn,
The law that forbids the shedding of innocent blood,
And the law that commands us to choose life.

St. Michael, we pray that you will continue
To cast into hell the evil spirits
Who are behind the culture of death
And the evil of abortion.

May we always be in union with God’s will
As we welcome and protect every child,
in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us!
