St. Faustina, who died in 1938 and whose Feast Day is October 5, was a Polish religious sister and mystic. In her Diary, she relates the messages the Lord Jesus gave her about the need to invoke his mercy on the world, especially for the sin of abortion, by praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
Lord Jesus,
Fountain of infinite mercy and love,
Forgiveness and reconciliation,
You are our great High Priest,
Who have entered the sanctuary
Not made by human hands,
And have offered your own blood
In atonement for our sins.
You have proclaimed your mercy to the whole world
And have revealed to St. Faustina
Your ardent desire that we receive that mercy.
You revealed in particular
The gravity of the sin of abortion,
And allowed St. Faustina
To feel pain that represented
Mothers aborting their children.
Lord, we ask through the intercession of St. Faustina
That you give the grace of repentance
To all who have had abortions
Or cooperated in them in any way,
Including by silence and failure to act.
Bring forgiveness, Lord, to all who ask for it.
Thank you, Lord,
For the mercy by which you created us in the first place,
When we could not ask for or earn our lives.
May we show mercy to the unborn,
Who need our voices, our hands, and our intervention
To protect them from the violence of abortion.
Have mercy on us and on the whole world,
And bring us a Culture of Life,
For you are Lord forever and ever. Amen.
St. Faustina, pray for us!
